neglect.

i feel that i have been neglecting my blog of late. my desire to post every couple of days has turned into the reality of posting every couple of weeks.

unacceptable really.

so here is a fresh start.

here is my list, my plan, my goals. a new years resolution a little late in the new year.

* post every couple of days (at least 3 times a week)

* start working on this years range of fascinators. (i love starting a new range, collecting fabric, feathers, beads & trims.. its when i have to re-make each piece that i begin to loose interest & sleep)

* find a local bag maker & start another hand crafted range.

* translate all of my jewellery ideas into actual pieces of jewellery.... (i have been working with some white coral, the piece is still in the studio, unfinished.)

* up date my site! (its currently down, due to constant hacking.)

* learn to take beautiful photos, like the one above.

that's it.

after...

Nothing exciting really... a simple necklace for my grandmother. A friend of hers has a similar necklace but it is made of plastic beads, my grandmother wanted the real thing!

Here is a new addition to the studio, I found her at a antique fair & was told she is from the 1940's I'm thrilled to have found such a lovely piece.

learning...

I have a slr camera that I don't know how to use... I just point and shoot, most of my photos are a testament to my lack of skill. I look at other blogs & envy the quality of their photos. I'm going to take out the manual and start to learn, maybe soon my photos will be as good as these...

I found all of these images on 'its mary ruffle' after spotting some images on the ada & darcy blog, a blog I look at every day

fabric & quill

As of March ill be starting a course at the Melbourne School of Fashion, in millinery construction & design!

Last year was only my second year of designing fascinators & I still have a lot more to learn, with this course ill learn how to create felt & cocktail hats, as well as making my own sinamay bases. I'm also looking forward to meeting other creative & like minded people. I love sharing ideas & always feel more inspired after feeding of the creative energy of others!
The piece in the photo is something I created last night... I still need to work on the balance & finish, but I'm happy with the style....

something old, something new...

When I first started making bags, this shoulder bag was one of my favourite designs, a simple shape with eclectic details.

I used a variety of coloured leathers, and I would adorn each bag with various fabrics & textured leathers. I enjoyed making them, all the little details, coloured lining, raw edges, rope handles etc.. made every bag special.

I have 2 of these lovely bags that will be available online as of Monday.
